A man was captured by Michigan State Police after fleeing the scene of an armed robbery on Sunday. Troopers were summoned to a residence in the 7400 block of South Blackmer Road at about 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, according to Sgt. Pete Fimbinger of the Lakeview Post. According to investigators, a 32-year-old man from Illinois was at the property to buy a dog when he and the landlord got into an argument.
The owner was shot repeatedly by the Illinois man. The homeowner, according to police, grabbed a weapon and returned fire. The culprit snatched the dog from the homeowner and fled the scene, driving away in traffic, until his car was damaged in Greenville, on Maplewood Drive, approximately south of M-57. He was then taken into custody. Police asked residents who were hit by this car to call in so they could get witness statements from them. The dog was successfully retrieved, according to Fimbinger.
